Happy International Women's Day!

This morning I woke up to puppy cuddles instead of emails, a nice long walk outside instead of diving into social media, and a hot cup of coffee on my balcony instead of the sounds of the radio. I thought about all of the powerful women that have supported me my entire life but most importantly I thought of those amazing women who have gotten me through the last few weeks. 2017 has been a hell of a year to say the least. Every time I feel myself slipping I get a call, or a text, or a big box of Cadbury Crème Eggs in the mail reminding me that I’m not alone nor will I ever be with these amazing, spectacular, undeniably beautiful people by my side – near or far.

I may not be great at a lot of things but I think I'm pretty good with words and so other’s words resonate with me deeply. This poem has stuck with me since I heard it at the Women’s March on Austin in January and I want to share it with you all: http://bit.ly/2nenp0O

So to my wolf pack – from Loretto to BC to BAC to Boston to Austin to Paris and beyond, to my nieces who are growing to be irrefutable forces of nature and will one day rule the world, to my mother and my grandmother whose fountain of youth genes and strength I hope to have inherited, and to MYSELF - remember that yes you are beautiful but you are also Powerful, Creative, Capable, Persistant, Hardworking, Resilient, Caring, Determined, Passionate, STRONG and LOVED. Happy International Women’s Day. “Your heart is free. Have the courage to write from that place inside you where love resides, where beauty resides, where freedom resides. When you do, you will come to the undeniable truth that no man can ever build his wall around your voice.”

And just because I still can’t believe we’re having these conversations in 2017, 20% of all sales today will be donated to Planned Parenthood again. So support women-owned businesses today and every day because money can talk when you use it the right way; and support accessible healthcare alternatives for your wife, sister, cousin, friend and mother because nobody should be bullied out of safe healthcare.
